My work is colourful and whimsical,
but the concepts I'm dealing with are heavier.

Irony is the distance that makes them bearable,
and the invitation that makes them seductive.

TRIANTAFYLLIA NTOUROUPI is a Greek artist, writer, and world-builder working across 3D animation, immersive installation, sculpture, interactive game development, holographic illusion, augmented reality, and AI-generated music.

Her practice is grounded in a long-running cosmology, Deepworld, a post-apocalyptic underwater universe first developed in an unpublished novel written before her formal entry into the arts.  Deepworld presents surreal, opulent environments that reimagine iconic artworks. In Deepworld, hybrid figures lounge in calm detachment as catastrophe unfolds around them. The work reflects on apathy in the face of disaster, exploring how spectacle replaces empathy and distraction becomes survival. By merging beauty with collapse, Deepworld examines humanity’s impulse to aestheticize crisis and transform collective anxiety into entertainment.

Before moving into fine arts, Ntouroupi pursued a career in the natural sciences, completing a BSc and PhD in Molecular Biology and working for several years as a research scientist. This foundation runs through every layer of the work: from the chimeric impossible species of Deepworld, to the glass architecture of a civilisation one collision from shattering, to the emotion-recognition systems that make the viewer's own physiology the instrument of the installation.

Her most recent work, Phosarion and Vythia, extends this research into the territory of isolation, deep survival, and the cost of human connection, accompanied by an original rock opera soundtrack with lyrics drawn from the same emotional territory as the installation itself.

Ntouroupi is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Peloponnese, developing robotic and emotion-responsive art installations that react to human affect and environmental conditions.
